Inter-Faith Group to Rally vs. ConAss

(Batangas City) -  The religious community of this prime city of CALABARZON Region will show its force in a Prayer March against HR 1109 which seeks to amend the Constitution through Constituent Assembly.  According to Fr. Cecilio Arce,  parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Parish and chairman of the six-interfaith Batangas City Ecumenical Council,  the march will be held on July 17, Fiday and will start at the Provincial Capitol and end at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

Aside from Catholics, expected to join this rally are members of the Batangas PresbyterianChurch (BPC), Iglesia Filipina Indepiendente (IFI), International Charismatic Communion of Episcopalian Churches (ICCEC), United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP), and United Methodist Church (UMC).  The rally is expected to begin at 2:00 in the afternoon.

Last July 4, Prof. Julie Taguiwalo was guest resource person in a forum held at St. Bridget College.  She expounded before her audience the implications and possible scenarios that would arise if and when the so-called Con Ass pushes through.  The BCEC met last Monday, July 6, to map out their guidelines in the holding of this mass action which will culminate with an ecumenical prayer service at the Basilica.

The BCEC is one of the most active inter-faith organizations in the Archdiocese of Lipa.
